The Insanely Long “Places to Ping List” for Blogs

long ping listThe long ping list is at the last paragraph (if you don’t care to read about the explanations of it).

Pinging is used to get exposure to your blog. A lot of times you can acquire backlinks to your site through some of these small-time pinging services. Basically, if you have a feed at your site, you should be able to ping (all WordPress and Blogger websites have this). There is also a plugin available for Drupal users to blog and ping.  In WordPress, you can edit your ping list by navigating to Options > Writing > Update Services.

For many, Ping ‘o Matic pings enough services — but not all.  By default, Wordpress automatically uses Ping ‘o Matic, but its effect is diminishing because of the thousands (or millions) that currently use it.

Word of caution: your feed will likely be everywhere after using all of these services, and you’re almost guaranteed to get scraped by autoblogs. I recommend you install this wordpress plugin if you use a full feed on your blog.
